Nerd Post Competition - 5$ if your post gets chosen and regular work if your post gets enough hits

Ok, so I know one person can only write so much about 'Nerd" things, I also realize that this blog is called NerdSaver. Let's get to the point, we really haven't been saving many nerds lately.  That's exactly why I'm launching the NerdSaver writing competition! So heres the rules.
1. Posts will have to be directly related to 'Nerdy' topics and/or  be able to give informations nerds want to have.
2. They have to be your own.
3. Winners will be chosen based on their topic, the article itself, and by how interesting it is.
More things you should know:
1. Any posts chosen to be posted on nerdsaver will be given 5$ compensation (via Paypal).
2. If your post brings in a lot of traffic, we think you deserve to be rewarded. Regular work will be offered to you if it gets enough hits.
3. If you don't get a response telling you that your post was chosen within a week we won't use it and its all yours to take somewhere else.

This is a great oppurtunity to show of your writing skills and maybe make a little money. For admissions and more information send me an email at Nerd@NerdSaver.com.

Reveiw: HP Mini Notebook PC

While using my new Hp Mini Notebook computer I realized it is a  pretty portable way to get work done on the go. With a display size of 10.1 inches, it'll go with you wherever it is you need it to go. The hp mini is small enough to fit in most bags/purses, but big enough to have actual usability. When you take in the 95% of a full sized keyboard, the built in web-cam or the built in wifi, the things you can do on it are endless.
While there are the pros of having a laptop of this size, it can also get annoying. The processing is slower then it would be in larger laptops and the battery life doesn't last as long as it could so you almost always have to carry a cord around with you while using the hp mini. I have the one running windows xp, and i don't know if its just me or what but sometimes it seems a little less smart then other brand new computers running vista are.
I guess it just comes down to what you plan on using it for, if you plan on using it for school/on-the-go web browsing, this is the computer for you, if you plan on using it as a 'sit down and play games' type of laptop I would recommend getting a normal sized laptop. I use it for school so I would probably give it a 4 out of 5.

How to get better at any computer skill in 30 days

So you want to learn php? Do it, this guide will give you a few simple steps that will help you to research any computer skill, and learn it to its fullest. It will help you learn programming languages such as javascript, php, html, css, actionscripts, and much more. It will also help you with more simple tasks such as diagnosing computer problems, or updating your machinery.
The amount of effort you put in is essentially what will determine whether or not you learn what you need to learn. If you spend the amount of time you would normally spend watching TV and playing video games trying to learn the concept you need to, you can learn it faster than anything you've ever learned in your life. Most people don't realize how much time they spend doing things that are just effecting their productivity. You have to live  your concept as a lifestyle. When you find a good resource, it is best that you just go for it and experiment with what you do learn.
Your resource can be just as important as a teacher would be of a class. You should spend almost as much time finding a good resource, as you should researching the subject itself. If your resource stinks, all the time you spend trying to learn will go down the drain.
Here's a list of great resources:
php.net
Library.
Let's start with webmonkey, it is the best website possible for people that want to learn different skills in the web development fields. It has tutorials on html, php, javascript, flash, and just about anything else that has to do with web developing.
Never under estimate that power of your local library. It is the one resource that almost everyone under-uses when they should be over-using it. They have books on the topics about anything from cleaning out your email inbox, to putting together the worlds next super computer. The books at the library are reliable resources because they were published and not just put together willy-nilly on the spot.
The number one thing you can do to learn a new skill though, is to find someone that already knows it. A good mentor can give a good hands on feeling that the internet and books don't offer. If you have questions about something, you don't have to take the time to leave a comment or wait for an email to answer it. And a good mentor is always going to be willing to help.
In order to learn a new skill you just have to at least try. Like Nike says, just do it.

Why Halo will always be played in tournaments, and Call of Duty won't.

We all know the two rival franchises, Halo and Call of Duty. While both fan cores are strong, one will always be a big in-tournament game, while the other sits on the benches while its played by thousands of people online and from LAN connections alike.
Halo is a slower paced killing game where it can take many seconds to achieve a single kill. With the armour that your half machine character, Master Chief has, and the 'futuristic' technology, it makes it hard to take you out. You can jump far, run fast, and hit hard, this is what puts it among the favorites  for tournaments such as the MLG and  friendly parties. It has a solid single player mode, with an almost even more solid multiplayer mode. The Halo games were definately designed with tournaments in mind.
Call of Duty is a high speed, quick killing game that takes the idea of war to a whole new level. You can be shot for less than a second in some cases before you die quickly and painlessly.  It mimics war to the highest degree it can and takes superior hand eye cordination to play with skill. Many find it more fun to play by theirselves than  with a large group.
The reason most tournaments like Halo, is because it's easier to watch. I mean, when you're alive longer it gives a lot more time to strategize and position yourself. Spectators love this, there's nothing fun about watching someone run into a building, just to get shot in the head by a nearby camper. Halo also has a slightly higher fan base. I know that most Halo players play Call of Duty too, but when they play Call of Duty it's usually on the couch with a headset and a bowl of popcorn.
All in all, Halo just will; it will always be a high competitive game and will be played for years to come (can anyone say counter strike?). I personally think Call of Duty is more fun to play, but when it comes to a watching situation, Halo is definatly more on a strong point

Motion sensitive Xbox 360 controller: Will it take out the Wii?

A company called PDP announced that they've made a motion sensitive controller for the Xbox 360! If you ask me, I'd say that this will be Microsoft's one ticket to taking out the Wii once and for all. The controller will most likely cost about 70 dollars and will be bundled with a game compatible with the controller. The controller will contain the motion sensitive controls, the D-pad; and the A, B, X, and Y buttons.
Many people are suprised that a third party company made the motion sensitive controller before microsoft did, but regardless I can't wait for this product to come out, and think it should have come out months ago. Im not sure of all the details but am sure it will be great!

Fable II: What happens when you buy Fairfax Castle?

Let's face it, this is a pretty esoteric article, not just anyone out there that likes video games; xbox 360 games in particular knows a large amount about Fable II.  And if  you're reading this blog post you've probably played through the  game and are debating whether you want to pay the 1 Million to obtain Fairfax Castle; one of the biggest landmarks in the game; and although it may not be the most baroque thing it the game my job is to tell you about the new quest it gives, and the reasons you should consider buying it.

New Quest:  **Spoiler Alert**
If you've played through every single quest you know of in the game (including the Knothole Island expansion if you have it), then you're probably looking for a new challenge. For those who haven't quite gotten there yet, you've just added to your long list of quests! Once you buy the castle you will step inside and there you will meet the butler. The butler will tell you to explore the castle, you just need to explore until you find the bed. Sleep in the bed and you will find out that it has great rejuvenation powers. Once you wake up the butler will come to you and explain that the castle is being attacked by bandits, you will then go through the castle and kill all of the bandits. Once you have defeated all the bandits the butler tells you that he thinks they entered the castle through a secret entrance and he will tell you that you should go explore. There will be a series of shoot, hit, magic type puzzles inside and they are kind of annoying but do-able. Once you have completed the puzzles you will enter a room and a promotional voice will come on talking about a potion that changes your gender. The potion is in the middle of the room and you can either choose to drink the potion, which will permanently change your gender; or not to take it, which will keep you the same, after which you leave the secret passageway and go back to the castle where you butler will quit his job as your butler and you finish the quest.

Perks:
At the beginning of the game when you enter the castle it doesn't look all that special. When you buy it, you start to realize how big the castle really is. It is probably one of the biggest buildings in the game (next to the spire), and it shows too. I got lost just exploring the dang thing. Besides the size of the castle, the bed contains mysterious rejuvenation powers. It raises your health and gives you purity (at least I think the purity thing is true). One other perk is that it makes you the mayor of Bowerstone. I'm not exactly sure what this does but I think it's pretty cool.

Is it worth it?
I know by now you just want to know if its worth it to dish out 1 million on one single building; especially on a building you can't rent out! My answer to this question is a 98% yes. If you have 1 million to pay, go for it; there is an achievement if you reach 2.5 million net worth in real estate. So go out there and get yourself a castle!

World of Warcraft GOLDMINE!

I recently found out that selling world of warcraft cards on ebay can prove to be a goldmine. I found out that I had 1200 world of warcraft cards and needed money. I sold them (using a technique I won't tell you) and made a 20 dollar profit per 1000 cards I bought. So go find a good technique for you and make yourself some money! Just kidding, I will give you the technique. The technique is... not to use a technique. All I did was bought, posted, then sold the cards. Its is as easy as that. sorry to all the people out there that thought I was going to actually tell you how to make gold in world of warcraft (that's for another post). Thank you, K13

The Secrets To Making Money - The How To Guide For Kids and Teens

We know our post on Tims sweet money secrets was a popular one (sorry the awesome comment from tim got deleted in our recent downtime). So we decided to make our own ebook about how to make money. The only difference between ours and his, is that ours actually works, and his kind of sucks. Our ebook doesn't tell what you should do, but simply how to do whatever it is you want to do to earn money. It works so good, you could even take Tim's stupid candy bar idea, and make it work. If your looking to make money, this is the finacial guide you need. Now don't worry, i'm not going to sit here and tell you the same exact things over and over, mostly because I know you wouldn't read it all, and the fact that I already wrote a 5 page ebook, why waste my time writing a ridiculously long sales letter. We may be lazy, but one things for sure, we know how to make money. So stop reading already and buy my ebook. We take paypal, so it should be pretty easy for you to buy it. I'm not going to tell you the price will rise in the very near future, because I'm pretty sure it won't. This ebook is only 5 bucks. So get on your paypal accounts and buy it already!

Price: 5 usd (Great Deal!)

You will be sent directly to a download page after payment.
