Let's get to the point, we really haven't been saving many nerds lately. That's exactly why I'm launching the NerdSaver writing competition! So heres the rules.
1. Posts will have to be directly related to 'Nerdy' topics and/or be able to give informations nerds want to have.
2. They have to be your own.
3. Winners will be chosen based on their topic, the article itself, and by how interesting it is.
More things you should know:
1. Any posts chosen to be posted on nerdsaver will be given 5$ compensation (via Paypal).
2. If your post brings in a lot of traffic, we think you deserve to be rewarded. Regular work will be offered to you if it gets enough hits.
3. If you don't get a response telling you that your post was chosen within a week we won't use it and its all yours to take somewhere else.

This is a great oppurtunity to show of your writing skills and maybe make a little money. For admissions and more information send me an email at Nerd@NerdSaver.com.
Reveiw: HP Mini Notebook PC

While using my new Hp Mini Notebook computer I realized it is a pretty portable way to get work done on the go. With a display size of 10.1 inches, it'll go with you wherever it is you need it to go. The hp mini is small enough to fit in most bags/purses, but big enough to have actual usability. When you take in the 95% of a full sized keyboard, the built in web-cam or the built in wifi, the things you can do on it are endless.
While there are the pros of having a laptop of this size, it can also get annoying. The processing is slower then it would be in larger laptops and the battery life doesn't last as long as it could so you almost always have to carry a cord around with you while using the hp mini. I have the one running windows xp, and i don't know if its just me or what but sometimes it seems a little less smart then other brand new computers running vista are.
I guess it just comes down to what you plan on using it for, if you plan on using it for school/on-the-go web browsing, this is the computer for you, if you plan on using it as a 'sit down and play games' type of laptop I would recommend getting a normal sized laptop. I use it for school so I would probably give it a 4 out of 5.

Do it, this guide will give you a few simple steps that will help you to research any computer skill, and learn it to its fullest. It will help you learn programming languages such as javascript, php, html, css, actionscripts, and much more. It will also help you with more simple tasks such as diagnosing computer problems, or updating your machinery.
The amount of effort you put in is essentially what will determine whether or not you learn what you need to learn. If you spend the amount of time you would normally spend watching TV and playing video games trying to learn the concept you need to, you can learn it faster than anything you've ever learned in your life. Most people don't realize how much time they spend doing things that are just effecting their productivity. You have to live your concept as a lifestyle. When you find a good resource, it is best that you just go for it and experiment with what you do learn.
Your resource can be just as important as a teacher would be of a class. You should spend almost as much time finding a good resource, as you should researching the subject itself. If your resource stinks, all the time you spend trying to learn will go down the drain.
Here's a list of great resources:

WebMonkey: the web developer's resource.

php.net

JavaScript.com
Library.
Let's start with webmonkey, it is the best website possible for people that want to learn different skills in the web development fields. It has tutorials on html, php, javascript, flash, and just about anything else that has to do with web developing.
Never under estimate that power of your local library. It is the one resource that almost everyone under-uses when they should be over-using it. They have books on the topics about anything from cleaning out your email inbox, to putting together the worlds next super computer. The books at the library are reliable resources because they were published and not just put together willy-nilly on the spot.
The number one thing you can do to learn a new skill though, is to find someone that already knows it. A good mentor can give a good hands on feeling that the internet and books don't offer. If you have questions about something, you don't have to take the time to leave a comment or wait for an email to answer it. And a good mentor is always going to be willing to help.
In order to learn a new skill you just have to at least try. Like Nike says, just do it.

While both fan cores are strong, one will always be a big in-tournament game, while the other sits on the benches while its played by thousands of people online and from LAN connections alike.
Halo is a slower paced killing game where it can take many seconds to achieve a single kill. With the armour that your half machine character, Master Chief has, and the 'futuristic' technology, it makes it hard to take you out. You can jump far, run fast, and hit hard, this is what puts it among the favorites for tournaments such as the MLG and friendly parties. It has a solid single player mode, with an almost even more solid multiplayer mode. The Halo games were definately designed with tournaments in mind.

Call of Duty is a high speed, quick killing game that takes the idea of war to a whole new level. You can be shot for less than a second in some cases before you die quickly and painlessly. It mimics war to the highest degree it can and takes superior hand eye cordination to play with skill. Many find it more fun to play by theirselves than with a large group.

The reason most tournaments like Halo, is because it's easier to watch. I mean, when you're alive longer it gives a lot more time to strategize and position yourself. Spectators love this, there's nothing fun about watching someone run into a building, just to get shot in the head by a nearby camper. Halo also has a slightly higher fan base. I know that most Halo players play Call of Duty too, but when they play Call of Duty it's usually on the couch with a headset and a bowl of popcorn.

All in all, Halo just will; it will always be a high competitive game and will be played for years to come (can anyone say counter strike?). I personally think Call of Duty is more fun to play, but when it comes to a watching situation, Halo is definatly more on a strong point.

If you ask me, I'd say that this will be Microsoft's one ticket to taking out the Wii once and for all. The controller will most likely cost about 70 dollars and will be bundled with a game compatible with the controller. The controller will contain the motion sensitive controls, the D-pad; and the A, B, X, and Y buttons.
Many people are suprised that a third party company made the motion sensitive controller before microsoft did, but regardless I can't wait for this product to come out, and think it should have come out months ago. Im not sure of all the details but am sure it will be great!

For those who haven't quite gotten there yet, you've just added to your long list of quests! Once you buy the castle you will step inside and there you will meet the butler. The butler will tell you to explore the castle, you just need to explore until you find the bed. Sleep in the bed and you will find out that it has great rejuvenation powers. Once you wake up the butler will come to you and explain that the castle is being attacked by bandits, you will then go through the castle and kill all of the bandits. Once you have defeated all the bandits the butler tells you that he thinks they entered the castle through a secret entrance and he will tell you that you should go explore. There will be a series of shoot, hit, magic type puzzles inside and they are kind of annoying but do-able. Once you have completed the puzzles you will enter a room and a promotional voice will come on talking about a potion that changes your gender. The potion is in the middle of the room and you can either choose to drink the potion, which will permanently change your gender; or not to take it, which will keep you the same, after which you leave the secret passageway and go back to the castle where you butler will quit his job as your butler and you finish the quest.

Perks:

At the beginning of the game when you enter the castle it doesn't look all that special. When you buy it, you start to realize how big the castle really is. It is probably one of the biggest buildings in the game (next to the spire), and it shows too. I got lost just exploring the dang thing. Besides the size of the castle, the bed contains mysterious rejuvenation powers. It raises your health and gives you purity (at least I think the purity thing is true). One other perk is that it makes you the mayor of Bowerstone. I'm not exactly sure what this does but I think it's pretty cool.

Is it worth it?

I know by now you just want to know if its worth it to dish out 1 million on one single building; especially on a building you can't rent out! My answer to this question is a 98% yes. If you have 1 million to pay, go for it; there is an achievement if you reach 2.5 million net worth in real estate. So go out there and get yourself a castle!

I found out that I had 1200 world of warcraft cards and needed money. I sold them (using a technique I won't tell you) and made a 20 dollar profit per 1000 cards I bought. So go find a good technique for you and make yourself some money! Just kidding, I will give you the technique. The technique is... not to use a technique. All I did was bought, posted, then sold the cards. Its is as easy as that. sorry to all the people out there that thought I was going to actually tell you how to make gold in world of warcraft (that's for another post). Thank you, K13
The Secrets To Making Money - The How To Guide For Kids and Teens

We know our post on Tims sweet money secrets was a popular one (sorry the awesome comment from tim got deleted in our recent downtime). So we decided to make our own ebook about how to make money. The only difference between ours and his, is that ours actually works, and his kind of sucks. Our ebook doesn't tell what you should do, but simply how to do whatever it is you want to do to earn money. It works so good, you could even take Tim's stupid candy bar idea, and make it work. If your looking to make money, this is the finacial guide you need. Now don't worry, i'm not going to sit here and tell you the same exact things over and over, mostly because I know you wouldn't read it all, and the fact that I already wrote a 5 page ebook, why waste my time writing a ridiculously long sales letter. We may be lazy, but one things for sure, we know how to make money. So stop reading already and buy my ebook. We take paypal, so it should be pretty easy for you to buy it. I'm not going to tell you the price will rise in the very near future, because I'm pretty sure it won't. This ebook is only 5 bucks. So get on your paypal accounts and buy it already!

And although I haven't played the first one before, I can tell you this; I am highly anticipating the sequel. With killer graphics and great-looking game play, I just can't wait to try it out.

Screenshot From Guild Wars 2 - http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/2007/085/

Will They Include A Fee Of The New Game?

This may blow your mind, but there aren't going to be any subscription fees to this full blown sequel to its predecessor. You only have to pay the one time fee of 'who knows what' to play. With the monster graphics and killer game play this jampacked sequel is dishing out, you're probably getting a heck of a deal.

Will The Game Play Be Changed?

As far As I know, we don't know. There just hasn't been enough said, and its too early to be guessing. Although I have heard rumors of extended game play, I have not been able to confirm them. They will change continents, character advancement, and a whole lot more; but we won't know for sure until more information is released.

When Will The Beta Be Released?

No one can say for sure but some sites have rumors that it won't be released until early 2009. There isn't an official date on the matter but we are sure to hear more in the very near future.

Wait Wait Wait

I know I've said this a lot in this post but really, not enough has been released! There is no knowing for sure about anything at this point and time. I am as exited as the die hard original Guild Wars fans and can't wait to start off the series with number 2.

It automatically ‘equalizes’ your stats to your opponents. The fist of guthix itself is good but it gives an unfair advantage to mages (there is no stopping them!). All and all it is a pretty fun game considering it is for non-members and members. If you are one of those ‘noobs’ that never wins, this guide is for you. I will give the step by step relay on how the hunted can easily become the hunters.

Hunted:

1. Stay just outside the portal box at the beginning so when they chase you, you teleport away.
2: If you’ve just teleported go to the outside of the ring and run laps.
3. If they come for you out there, use your teleport orb.
4. If not, just sit there and slowly but surely get your charge.
5. Once you run out of running pull the teleport trick. Walk to the teleporter, and go through it. Then let them come to you and allow them to attack you for a while, heal yourself with bandages. Then go through again.
6. Once your running is back again, repeat the process.

7. As soon as you get to a comfortable charge wait in the center and let them attack you. Use bandages to heal yourself. Once they are gone, let them kill you.

Hunter:
1. Get in a position where they accidentally come to you, not the other way around.
2. When they use the teleporting trick, estimate the next teleport house they will arrive at and sprint to it.
3. If they go outside far, shoot them with an arrow or magic. None of those? Then just chase after them.
4. Once they teleport from the outside to the middle, sprint to the middle and try to kill them.
5. If they’re being gay and just staying in the middle, just randomly right click the glob of people until you find their name. Once you do, attack (it keeps attacking, remember?).
6. If you are the hunter first just leave and come back in. The game is cheap if you have to hunt first.
7. If the hunted starts to fight you, fight back. It is probably the best chance you have to kill them.

More guides will come out soon. Also remember that it lowers high level player to match up with the low level player. Did I miss anything? Please tell me your tips and tricks so we all can be masters of Fist Of Guthix.

Yu-Gi-Oh Cards Aren't Nerdy : The Story Of How They Just Became Flat Out Lame
"Whoa" Said a kid at the bus stop. "Where'd you get that one"
"What are you guys looking at?" I asked.
They were looking at Yu-Gi-Oh cards. And though I had no idea the impact they would have on the average elementary school and some secondary school kids lives, I had to be part of the action. Starting at about 11.00 per 'Starter Deck' and 3.00 per 'Booster Pack', they were the greatest normal sensation to ever hit the world. Though in normal times it would have been considered the nerdiest game on the planet, things were different. These were not normal times. These brand new playing cards were to busy being awesome to be nerdy.
Yugi and Pegasus (sorry if I misspelled them) were two of the most memorable faces in Yu-Gi-Oh. Their starter decks were flying off the shelves as if a raging chimpanzee were about to destroy the factory that created them. You had the god cards and the just flat out good cards. I was never good at playing the game, so I just kept it to a collection standard. I never won a match.
The game consists of 2000 points that you as a person has at the beginning. Then as you fight you kill the lower level monsters. If your monster has 3000 ATK points and the other players has a DEF of 2000, then that monster is dead. To figure out how much points the player his/herself loses you subtract the low level DEF from the high level ATK. This may seem easy but with all the magic and spell cards it made it hard to win.
Now I play World Of Warcraft cards (yes I know NERDY). Yu-Gi-Oh is almost unheard of now and Magic the Gathering (the first ever TGC game) is taking back the crowds with storm. No one that I know still plays Yu-Gi-Oh. And if they do, they are usually known as the type without a life*.

*Unless they are under the age of 13. Then they are just being kids.

Finnally, NerdSaver Freelance Services Announced!
If you like the NerdSaver blog then you might like the NerdSaver freelance service. Now this is not a free task; you have to be a member to mine for Pure ess. The first step in this process is to get a high enough mining level that you can hold at least an addy pick ax. Then make sure you have done the magic quest that you get from Aubury in the rune shop in Varrock. Then go to Aubury and ask him to teleport you. Mine until you are full. Then store in the bank and keep going until you have about 3-5K worth of essence. You may be thinking to yourself that this is impossible, but I assure you it is not. The payout is totally worth it. I think 3k worth of pure essence is worth 1.5 million gold. To sell the pure essence, go to the bank and withdraw all the essence as bank notes. Then go to the grand exchange and sell them. You are sure to have great success using this tactic.

Kill Hill Giants And Moss Giants
Another tactic that works is to kill hill or moss giants and simply to take the big bones and sell them. They sell for like 250G for 1. This tactic takes longer than some others but if you choose to kill Moss Giants you will also be able to gain levels. First you might want to equip yourself with good weapons and armour. Then go into the Varrock sewers and go to the very end. Here you will find Moss Giants. They are quite hard to kill so make sure you are at least level 48. Kill them until your inventory is full of 'big bones' then go and put them in the bank. Keep getting new ones and keep putting them into the bank. When you are satisfied with how many you have sell them at the grand exchange.

Sell Unwanted Items At The Grand Exchange
If your bank account gets full, don't flush it out at the general store. This is a bad tactic and bad thinking. You get paid a lot less from there as if you would if you were to sell it at its specialty shop or the grand exchange. Specialty shop do pay better than the general shop, but they still pay a lot less then you would think. Take all your somewhat worth while items over to the grand exchange. I would keep these items from a range of 1k-1000000k. Go through all the tutorials at the grand exchange (skip this step if you have already done so. Now sell the item or set for the amount you want to get! Just make sure you are charging a resonable price. You are unlikely to sell the item if it is too highly priced.

Emulation: A How To Guide For An Everyday Person
Recently I put a post on my electronics and business blog about emulation and how legal it is. Please read that post before you even consider following this guide. Emulation is illegal if you don't already own the games you are emulating. Here is the post. This particular guide will be done in a list format.

Guide To Video Game Emulation

Visit Doperoms.com.

Click on the link that says "Emulators."

Pick a console then download an emulator.

Install the emulator.

Go back to the home page of Doperoms.com

Search for a video game that matches the video game console of the emulator you downloaded.

Check and make sure the video game matches your console, then download it.

Unzip or install the Rom if needed and store it in the folder you want your games stored.

Open the emulator. Either click file or something along those lines then click load Rom/s.

Click on the Rom you want to play, And you've just emulated a game!

Warning! Video game emulation is illegal if you don't already own the game you are emulating. So make sure you own games before you emulate them. This guide is meant to teach you how to backup games you already own. Not to teach you to illegally pirate games.
